About PLS Transport
PLS is a Belgian freight forwarder based in the Antwerp region. We organise international road transport, sea freight, project cargo and exceptional transport. In addition, we provide warehousing, value added logistics and customs services. Since 2007, we have been coordinating shipments for companies in Belgium and abroad. From our location near the Port of Antwerp, we combine local operational knowledge with an international network of carriers and logistics partners.
From road transport to international freight forwarding
The history of PLS begins with Peter Van der Beken, who has been active in transport and logistics since 1984. He started his career as a driver before moving into transport planning. This was followed by roles in business development, project management and international freight forwarding.
This combination of operational and commercial experience formed the basis for the establishment of PLS in 2007. From the very beginning, Marc Van der Beken was also involved in the company. Drawing on his experience as a financial director at several companies, he took responsibility for the financial management of PLS.
During the first years, PLS focused primarily on national and international road transport. Around 2012, the company's activities began to expand. Customers increasingly required support beyond road transport, while economic downturns and disruptions in the transport market highlighted the importance of a broader range of logistics services.
Sea freight, exceptional transport, warehousing and value added logistics gradually became a larger part of the company's activities. Today, PLS coordinates international transport by road and sea, project cargo, breakbulk and exceptional transport. Warehousing, handling and customs formalities are also part of our daily operations.
Our mission
Our mission is clear: to organise transport and logistics correctly and honour the agreements we make.
A shipment should arrive at its destination on time and in good condition, with as few obstacles along the way as possible. When a problem does occur, we act quickly and communicate clearly with the customer and all parties involved.
Direct contact plays an important role in this. Not every question requires a lengthy email exchange. A phone call often provides clarity faster and allows the right action to be taken immediately.
When developing a transport solution, we do not focus solely on the lowest price. The chosen solution must be operationally feasible and capable of being executed correctly. A cheaper alternative that ultimately results in delays, damage or additional costs offers little benefit.
We attach great importance to the commitments we make. What we promise must be achievable. If we make a mistake, we communicate openly about it and take the necessary steps to resolve the problem.
