Warehousing, Storage and Terminal Operations

Temporary storage and professional cargo handling

Not every shipment moves directly from the port to its final destination. Containers may need to be unloaded, goods stored temporarily, inspected or reloaded for further transport. PLS coordinates warehousing, storage and terminal operations as part of the wider logistics process.

Through our network of specialised warehouse and terminal partners, we arrange temporary storage, container stuffing and stripping, bonded storage, cross docking and cargo handling for both general cargo and project shipments. We coordinate the planning between the terminal, warehouse, customs and transport.

Whether you are handling an import container, preparing cargo for export or moving project cargo, you have one point of contact for the operational coordination.

How we manage warehousing and terminal operations

Every operation starts with the cargo, the timing and the next step in the transport chain. Based on these requirements, we arrange a suitable warehouse or handling location.

For import shipments, we collect containers from the terminal on time and move them to the warehouse for stripping. The empty container is returned to the terminal as quickly as possible. The cargo can then be transferred to a truck for final delivery or stored temporarily when required.

For export cargo, we coordinate the container stuffing, stowage and lashing. Before the container is sealed, we review photos of the loaded cargo. If we identify an issue with the positioning or securing of the goods, we intervene before the container leaves for the terminal.

Heavy or oversized cargo requires a different approach. Container handling up to approximately 42 tonnes including container weight can be arranged at suitable facilities. For heavier or non-standard pieces, we coordinate heavy lift equipment and terminal handling based on the cargo dimensions, weight and transport plan.

PLS also coordinates customs and FASFC-related operations. We have practical experience with inspections at Border Control Posts, physical FASFC inspections and container fumigation or degassing when required. These activities can be coordinated together with storage, customs clearance and onward transport.
