Container transport for Formula 1
Container transport for Formula 1
In August, PLS handled part of the container transport around Formula 1. We moved three 40ft high cube containers from Belgium to the circuit in Zandvoort. From there, four containers went on to the circuit in Madrid. A 40ft HC measures 12.19 x 2.44 x 2.90 m. Each container weighed 8 to 10 tonnes.
The challenge
Every loading and delivery was booked on a fixed time slot. Early or late was not an option. On top of that, the job ran in two legs: first three containers to Zandvoort, then four from Zandvoort to Madrid. With containers 12.19 m long and up to 10 tonnes, every step had to be right.
Our approach
We used sideloaders. With a sideloader the driver lifts the container onto the trailer himself and sets it down the same way, with no crane or reach stacker needed on site. The sideloader puts its stabiliser legs on the ground and lifts the container with chains and slings.
We followed every transport closely, from loading to delivery, and planned each run around the assigned time slots.
The result
All seven containers were loaded and delivered within their time slots, in Zandvoort and in Madrid.
